›Does locking a recipe stop crafting?
No. It only hides it from the recipe book; a player who knows the pattern can still craft it by hand.
›Do players keep unlocked recipes after they die?
Yes. The recipe book is stored with the player and survives death and respawn. Only /recipe take removes entries from it.
